Adding a “Home Grown” Touch to Your Wedding

Even with a wedding planner, sometimes you want to really dig your hands in.  After all, it’s your wedding, and you might want to add some personal touches.  Here are a few ideas on how you can do just that:

  • Bouquet Holder – Make a personal statement by creating your own paper bouquet holder.  Decorative wallpaper, inch-wide silk, silver glitter and string can make beautiful, unique bouquet holders for your wedding.  Since you know what flowers you’ll have in your wedding, you can even make the holder to match!
  • Guest Book – Guest books are sometimes little more than a cover and paper.  With a little bit of thought and love, however, you can make yours something even more special.  Lighting brushing brewed tea on black-and-white copies of your wedding photographs can give them a vintage look.  In the front of the guest book, you can also glue photocopies of love letters from your parents and grandparents.  Little touches can make all the difference!
  • Wedding Invitations – Handmade invitations can add that special note to your wedding.  With cardstock as the backing, a lighter weight paper is chosen to go with your wedding colors and flowers.  The printed invitation goes in the middle to create invitations your guests won’t want to throw away.

Other ideas can include making the bride’s headdress, a special ring pillow or paper flowers to decorate the reception or gift table.  Whether you want a simple, country-style wedding, want to add personal touches to your wedding day or are on a strict budget, these three ideas are a great start.  Look through your list of “must-haves” and wants, and see where else you can let your creativity and pre-wedding excitement run free!
